Video Introduction
Creative Meditation
Be sure all your supplies are ready to go before listening to this track. Consider other things that might make you more comfortable, such as a nice cup of tea or a seat cushion. Once you are ready to begin, click play.
Step 1: Gathering words & images
This is the GRAB WHAT GRABS YOU phase...collecting images without judging or refining. All you need at this step is your magazines.
Step 2: Sorting
By reflecting on each selection, and asking the following questions, you can whittle your pile down to the most meaningful and relevant items:
Does this reflect my Creativity?
Does it express my Creative Self?
Step 3: Composing
Now is the time to let your Creative Self compose a self portrait using the words and images that made it into your final selection. All you will need are scissors.
Step 4: Gluing down
This is the time to Glue down your collage portrait of the special strengths and skills your creativity provides, You will need a glue stich or craft glue and a small paintbrush.
Step 5: Introducing the non-dominant hand
'Other handed thinking' is the act of utilizing your non-dominant hand to directly access the creativity centers in the right brain. Information that comes from the non-dominant hand is generally more intuitive, to the point and from a different perspective.
Step 6: Warm-up activity
This activity is designed to loosen up your non-dominant hand and get both hands working together in a very relaxing creative process. You will need a notebook or sketchbook and a couple of markers or pens.
Step 7: Dialogue with your Creative Self
By giving this abstract and exotic part of you a voice, you will have direct access to insights that have been, until now, remote and difficult to access. You will need a notebook or sketchbook and a marker, pencil or pen.
