Joan Korenblit, Executive Director - Respect Diversity Foundation group mural project
“What a pleasure it was to watch Amanda Joy guide students to collaborate on the “We Care for the Earth” mural at Science Museum Oklahoma. She is a master at teaching elements and principals of art as she brings in various areas of the curriculum. Through a reflective process, Amanda Joy instills in each child a sense of self value. Her techniques encourage students to have respect for themselves and each other as they, together, enjoy the process of creating.”
Lauren Zuniga - performance poet and activist Visioning® workshop
"The tools taught in these workshops, for me, seem to act as those bumper cushions in the bowling alley, gently guiding you along so you don’t wind up in the gutter."
Marilyn Sterling - art teacher at Millwood Arts Academy group mural project
"I just wanted to thank you for the mural project. Your expertise in facilitating the students through the process involved from planning to ultimately completing the final works of art was an unbelievably fun/learning experience - not only for the kids, but for me as well. How fitting that the theme was "celebrating diversity". We learned that our differences in thought, ages and talents could be used collaboratively to create an amazing end product."
Andrew Wynn - photographer Creative Journal Expressive Arts workshop
"Amanda came into my life with the non-dominant hand exercises at just the right time. I was experiencing a shift in the way I see the world, and she provided a great tool for me to experience that shift within myself more fully.
I was a fairly unbalanced person just a few months ago. Amanda has given me a great gift in that I have been able to surrender to the human birthright of a balanced life experience. I used to over-relate to linear thinking. By accepting her help I have been able to connect with simple answers to difficult questions like, "what is an emotion?" or, "how do I feel today?"
The first time I did the basic non-dominant hand exercise I had some profound realizations and allowed my inner self to physically as well as mentally get a full emotional experience. While this may be common for some people it is certainly not for me. Through many tough life experiences I have put up defenses that seem impregnable at times. The journaling technique and non-dominant hand exercises have cut through them like the Sword of Truth."
